Portland Timbers Headed to MLS is Back Finals

The Portland Timbers punched their ticket to the MLS is Back Finals with a 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Union.

Jeremy Ebobisse capped a spectacular first half for the Timbers with a goal in the 13th minute.

Portland controlled the action for the majority of the first half, limiting Philadelphia’s opportunities in the box.

Philadelphia did earn a penalty kick on a questionable foul by Sebastian Blanco, but Sergio Santos sent the kick over the bar during their only real opportunity in the first half.

But the Union opened up the second half consistently on the ball, but couldn’t string together enough momentum. Possible tournament MVP Blanco, found goal on a header off a Diego Valeri corner in the 69th minute.

Less than two minutes later, Philadelphia scored an equalizer that was called back on a borderline off-sides call. After 6 minutes of extra time, it was all over. And the Timbers are headed to the MLS is Back finals
