Portland Timbers Top Kansas City 2-1

The Portland Timbers welcomed thousands of fans back to Providence Park for a match which permitted a season-high 80% capacity.
Kansas City controlled the early moments of the game, capturing 65% possession in the first half and Sporting K.C found the netting first in the 28th minute when Jaylin Lindsey fired a shot upper-90. The lead was short-lived as Dairon Asprilla picked up his second goal of the season to tie it up.
Portland pounced again seconds before the opening 45 minutes concluded. The ball was ping-ponging around and Marvin Loria was the benefactor of a lucky bounce, ultimately passing the ball in the Sporting KC net to make it 2-1 Timbers.
Kansas City outshot Portland 19-7 but could not find the precious goal in the second half, allowing Portland to gain their first win this season from a losing position. With 12 points now on the campaign, Portland moves into a playoff spot in the conference. Next up, the Timbers hurry over to Houston to face the Dynamo on Wednesday, June 23rd.
