Portland Timbers Steal Point Late in Houston

Jeremy Ebobisse’s Header in the 91st minute time grabs Portland their second come-from-behind result this week. The streak of the Portland Timbers never beating the Dynamo in Houston continues after drawing but grabbing a point after being down 2-0 moves them up to fifth in the conference.

Portland opened the game in a defensive back-five and it did not work well, being outshot 7-1 to open the affair. Two of those Houston shots found the netting: Fabrice Picault in the 15th minute and Tyler Pasher doubled the lead in the 33rd.

After falling behind early, Portland was forced to be the aggressors. In the first half, Eryk Williamson had a beautiful sequence that ended in hitting the crossbar on a volley. The Timbers grabbed the first back on the counter-attack in the 50th minute when Asprilla had a chip over the Houston goalkeeper.

The Timbers were worthy of a second goal and it looked doomed until Ebobisse headed the equalizer home in stoppage time.

Portland faces Minnesota United Saturday at 8 PM looking to continue their undefeated June.
