Portland State Basketball Coach Jase Coburn has announced the signing of Jules Assim to a National Letter of Intent for the 2025-26 academic year.

Assim is the second signing for next season for the Vikings program. He is a 6-9 forward from Phoenix, AZ who has competed for Bella Vista Prep and for the Compton Magic AAU team. He is a National Team member at Bella Vista. While playing for the Compton Magic, Assim’s team reached the final four of the Adidas Boys 3SSB Palmetto Road Championship.

“Jules really fits what we value. He is a high-level competitor and doesn’t back down from a challenge,” said Vikings Coach Jase Coburn. “We will need size going into next season and he brings that. As a younger player, he is a high-motor rebounder and shot blocker. He runs the floor extremely well and has great athletic ability.

“Jules has progressed a lot through his high school basketball career and will continue to develop with us.”

Portland State currently has seven seniors on its 14-player roster. The Vikings have started the 2024-25 season with a 2-1 record, including a road victory at San Diego on Tuesday, 85-76.

The Vikings previously signed Brayden Barron of Sam Barlow High School in Gresham, OR.
