Portland State legend QB Chris Crawford passes away at age 51
Former Portland State Vikings legendary quarterback Chris Crawford passed away over the weekend from complications of an ongoing battle with leukemia. He was 51 years old.

Crawford led Portland State to its most successful team seasons in program history, including appearances in the Division 2 National Championship game in both 1987 and 1988, under the coaching of Pokey Allen.
Crawford attended PSU as a slightly-built left-hander from Sunset High School in Beaverton. He attended Portland State from ’85-’88, and was named a first-team All-American selection for Division Two in the ’88 season.

One of Crawford’s former coaches, Al Borges, was quoted in The Oregonian as saying about Crawford:
“It went way beyond football. He was great off the field too. He was the most dynamic leader of any quarterback I ever coached.”
“I don’t say this lightly. I hope my son grows up to be like Chris Crawford.”
Crawford is survived by his children, Payton and Carson, as well as his mother, Betty, and brothers Mark and Dennis. Service arrangements are still pending.
