Acquiring Ariza will help Portland defensively but the move is seen as a salary dump as the Blazers will save $12.5 million in salary. Portland will also create a $7.2 million and a $1.7 million trade exception as part of the deal.
It has not been the season Blazer fans were hoping for as Portland is in 11th place in the Western Conference with a 18-26 record.
