Pats roll Chargers 41-28 to advance to their 8th straight AFC Title game
The New England Patriots dynasty isn’t over quite yet as they destroyed the Los Angeles Chargers, 41 to 28 to advance to their 8th straight AFC Title game. The game was never in doubt, as New England scored touchdowns on their first four possessions while their defense shut down Phillip Rivers and the Charger offense. It was a dominant first half from the Patriots, as they had 24 total first downs in the half while the Charger offense only ran a total of 23 plays.
Tom Brady was his brilliant self once again, throwing for 343 yards and a touchdown while Julian Edelman had a great game catching 9 passes for 151 yards. The Patriot two headed monster in the backfield was dominant, as James White caught 15 passes for 97 yards while rookie Sony Michel rushed for 129 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Phillip Rivers will have to wait another year to try to reach his first Super Bowl, as his offense never got any rhythm. He finished with 331 yards and 3 touchdowns, most of that coming in garbage time. Star running back Melvin Gordon was held in check all game as he only had 15 yards rushing on 9 carries.
With the win, New England will head to Arrow Head Stadium to take on MVP front runner Patrick Mahomes, and the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Title game. You can listen to that game next Sunday right here on 102.9 and 750 The Game.
