Patrick Mahomes leads the Chiefs to AFC Title game, beating the Colts 31-13
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs put on an clinic today, routing the Colts 31 to 13. The game was never in doubt as the Chiefs scored a pair of touchdowns and added another field goal on their first three drives of the game. The Kansas City defense also did their part not allowing a Colt first down until one minute left in the first half.
Coming into the game the Colts had won 10 out of 11 games and they were a hot upset pick this week to beat the #1 seed Chiefs. But it was clear from kickoff these two teams have a wide talent cap, as the Chiefs out gained the Colts 433 to 263, had 29 first downs to 15, and had a time of possession advantage of 39:49 to 19:47. Andrew Luck, who has been on a tear lately was largely held in check throwing for 203 yards a touchdown and that Colt running game, led by Marlon Mack, was only able to muster 87 yards as a team.
Patrick Mahomes, the front runner for MVP, played brilliantly in his first playoff action throwing for 278 yards and adding a touchdown on the ground. Tight end Travis Kelce continued his fantastic year catching 7 passes for 108 yards, while running back Damien Williams led the way on the ground, finishing with 129 yards and a touchdown.
