The Oregon State Beavers jumped into second place in the Pac-12 Conference Standings with a 72-57 Civil War win over their rival Oregon Ducks on Saturday night in Corvallis.

The Beavers are 8-4 in Pac-12 play, their best conference record through 12 games since the 1989-90 season.  Their 16-8 overall record matches their best 24-game mark in the Wayne Tinkle era, which came in Tinkle’s first season in 2014-15.

It was the first time in nine seasons (2009-10) that the Beavers swept both Civil War games from the Ducks.  The Beavers won in Eugene in the first rivalry game back on January 5th, 77-72.

“This week was more about the big league game than a rivalry game in our practices, in our meetings,” Coach Wayne Tinkle said after the win.

Stephen Thompson, Jr. led the Beavers with 22 points to seal the sweep, with Tres Tinkle adding 13 points and 7 assists.
