Oregon State Men’s Hoops Add Three Transfers to Roster for 2020-21 Season

Oregon State announced Thursday three more players will join the men’s basketball 2020 class.

Warith Alatishe is a 6-foot-7 forward from Houston, who played his last two seasons at Nicholls State. His sophomore year he started 29 of 31 games. Alatishe also shot 55.7 percent from the floor, while he averaged 10.9 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. He picked the Beavs over Georgia, Georgetown, Texas A&M and Wichita State.

“We’re extremely excited with our signing of Warith. He is an explosive athlete and plays with energy and tenacity, truly an impressive rebounder for his position and an incredible finisher in the paint,” head coach Wayne Tinkle said in the OSU Press Release. “He’s a talented player right now, but with him having to potentially sit out a year, we feel he’ll grow by leaps and bounds in that time. He’s really a great kid from a great family that we’re thrilled to be adding to our program.”

Rodrigue Andela is a 6-foot-8 forward from Cameroon. He attended Kilgore Junior College in Texas for two seasons. JucoRecruiting.com ranked Andela as the 28th best player in the nation for 2020. He averaged double-digit scoring in both his freshman (10.5 pts) and sophomore (12.4 pts) seasons. He was also a solid rebounder in each year, including 9.0 per game as a sophomore. Lastly, he shot at least 66.7 percent from the field in both seasons.

I’m really excited to announce the addition of Rodrigue to our program. He’s a great young man number one, but a real warrior on the court. He brings a physicality to the post position we haven’t had in a while,” Tinkle said in the release. “At 6-foot-8, 245-pounds he’ll be a force down low on both ends of the court. He has extremely long arms and a great touch, but his best attribute may be how relentless he is on the boards. We can’t wait to get him out here and get to work.”

Finally, Tariq Silver is a 6-foot-5 guard from Clarksville, Tenn. He attended Tallahassee Community College in Florida last year. Like Andela, Silver was highly ranked by JucoRecruiting.com; Silver checked in at No. 17 of the best players for 2020. He did a little bit of everything, averaging 12.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. He also shot 45.5 percent from three. He chose the Beavs over several teams including Arkansas, Georgia and Texas.

“We’re thrilled to be adding Tariq to our squad as well. He started at a D-1 school so he’s not your traditional junior college player. He brings good size and physicality to the guard position and has the ability to play multiple positions,” Tinkle said about Silver in the release. “He played on a very deep and talented team at Tallahassee and was a very consistent scorer for them, shooting 46 percent from three, so he’s really going to be a valuable weapon. His size will allow him to be a great defender for us as well. He’s another great kid who is very excited to be joining our program.”

All three (Alatishe, Andela, Silver) will enter as juniors with two years remaining of their eligibility.
