Oregon Ducks transfer quarterback Ty Thompson committed to Tulane on Friday.

Thompson announced his entry into the transfer portal back in early December, and now lands with a Green Wave program looking to replace NFL Draft-bound QB Michael Pratt, who ran the offense the past four seasons.

Thompson was a four-star recruit out of Gilbert, Ariz. when he signed with the Ducks as a freshman in the class of 2021. He stayed three seasons at Oregon, backing up Bo Nix the past two years. He played in seventeen total games as a Duck, including seven in 2023. He leaves Oregon with totals of 42 completions on 66 attempts (63.6%), 456 yards, 6 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.

Ducks fans recall Thompson entering for Nix late in the 2022 November home game against Washington after Nix suffered a lower leg injury. Oregon had to settle for a field goal after a marathon drive in the fourth quarter, then on their next drive went for it on 4th-and-1 and failed on a running play with Thompson handing the ball to Noah Whittington, allowing the Huskies to pull out the comeback victory.

Now, Thompson joins a Tulane program that went 11-3 in 2023, going a perfect 8-0 in regular season conference play, but losing to SMU in the American Athletic Conference title game and also losing to Virginia Tech in the Military Bowl.

Thompson reportedly also was considering Oregon State on his list of transfer destinations, but ultimately lands in the American Athletic Conference with Tulane.
