Oregon Ducks stun Team USA 93-86
The Oregon Ducks defeated Team USA in an exhibition thriller on Saturday night at Matthew Knight Arena 93-86, becoming the first University team to beat the National Team since 1999.
The Ducks were led by the 30 points of star point guard Sabrina Ionescu, and forward Satou Sabally added 25 points of her own.
The Ducks become the first team in twenty years to beat Team USA. Tennessee was the last to do it back on Nov. 7th, 1999, a 65-64 win.
Oregon trailed the national team by 11 points in the second quarter, but rallied to make it 42-38 by halftime. The Ducks outscored the Americans in the third quarter 30-25 to take a one-point lead at 68-67.
Ionescu had 25 of her thirty points in the second half, helping the Ducks put the finishing touches on the upset in the fourth quarter, to earn the 93-86 victory.
11, 530 fans were on hand at Matthew Knight Arena to see the historic upset.
