Oregon Ducks QB Dillon Gabriel Sets NCAA Record For Career Total Touchdowns

750 The Game Staff

With a third-quarter touchdown pass to offensive lineman Gernorris Wilson, Oregon Ducks quarterback Dillon Gabriel tallied his 179th total touchdown in his collegiate career.

The score sent him past Case Keenum who had the previous record of 178 total touchdowns in NCAA history.

Gabriel added score No. 180 later in the game with another touchdown pass to Evan Stewart.

Gabriel was making his 59th career start, most among active FBS quarterbacks and two away from Bo Nix’s FBS record for starts by a QB (61).

The Ducks signal-caller is also No. 2 all-time in career total yards (18,929), passing touchdowns (147) and passing yards (17,713). Ironically, he was held under 200 passing yards for the first time all season in Saturday’s 39-18 win over Maryland, finishing with 183.

The Ducks are 10-0 for the third time in program history, joining the 2010 and 2012 teams to have started a season that well. The 2010 squad played for the national championship.

Oregon will remain No. 1 in Tuesday’s upcoming College Football Playoff rankings as they head to Madison, Wisc. for their final Big Ten road game of the season, at the Wisconsin Badgers. Kickoff set for 4:30 p.m. on NBC.

Following the game at Wisconsin, Oregon will have its second and final bye week of the regular season, then return to Autzen Stadium for their home finale against rival Washington on Sat. Nov. 30th. Kickoff for that game is TBD.
