Oklahoma State Freshman Cade Cunningham Declares for NBA Draft

Cade Cunningham is done in men’s college basketball after just one season. The Oklahoma State star announced on Thursday that he’s headed for the 2021 NBA Draft.

Cunningham’s season and NCAA Tournament was cut short by none other than the Oregon State Beavers.

He led the Big 12 in scoring with 20.1 point per game, which was also the fourth-highest mark for a freshman in conference history. However, in his two NCAA Tournament games Cunningham did not shoot very well.

In the Round of 64 against Liberty, he finished with 15 points, but he shot just 3-of-14 from the floor and 2-of-8 from three. Then, against the Beavs, he scored 24 points, but again shot poorly (6-of-20 from the field and 4-of-11 from deep).

Cunningham was also an Associated Press First-Team All-American and won the Wayne Tisdale Award given to the top men’s freshman college basketball player.

The 2021 NBA Draft is set for July 29. ESPN lists Cunningham as their top available prospect.
