NFL Wild Card Weekend Preview!

The NFL Playoffs begin this weekend, and we have EVERY game of the NFL postseason right here on Portland’s most-listened to sports station, 750 The GAME.

Here is how the Wild Card weekend is slated!

Sat., Jan. 4th:   1:35pm

AFC:  (5) Buffalo Bills @ (4) Houston Texans

The Buffalo Bills are trying to win their first playoff game as a franchise since 1995, while the Texans are hoping to build off an AFC South division title and earn a trip to the Divisional round.  Defensive pass rush star JJ Watt is expected to return from injury in this game for the Texans, while Bills QB Josh Allen looks to make a statement that he is here to stay as one of the league’s rising stars.

Betting line:  HOU -3

Sat., Jan. 4th:  5:15pm

AFC:  (6) Tennessee Titans @ (3) New England Patriots

The Patriots blew their chance at a first-round bye and a home game in the Divisional Round when they lost as heavy favorites to the lowly Miami Dolphins in the regular season finale.  Now, Tom Brady & Co. have to face a tough Wild Card opponent in the Tennessee Titans, winners of five of their final seven games to close the season.  QB Ryan Tannehill has been playing well since he replaced former Oregon Ducks star Marcus Mariota, and running back Derrick Henry rushed for the most yards in the NFL this year.

Betting line:  NE -5

Sun., Jan. 5th:  10:05am

NFC:  (6)  Minnesota Vikings  @  (3) New Orleans Saints

These two teams have plenty of meaningful playoff history between them.  From the Brett Favre interception in the NFC Championship Game in New Orleans in 2009 that helped send the Saints to their first and only Super Bowl title, to the Vikings pulling off the Minneapolis Miracle two post-seasons ago with Stefon Diggs, these two teams bring a familiar match up to the table.  Saints QB Drew Brees is ready to take his team back to the Super Bowl after coming up agonizingly short last season after the officials robbed New Orleans of a decent shot to beat the LA Rams in the NFC Championship.  Meanwhile, Kirk Cousins is desperate for a playoff-defining moment in his career, and to get into the good graces of fans in Minnesota.

Betting line:  NO -7.5

Sun., Jan. 5th:  1:40pm

NFC:  (5) Seattle Seahawks  @ (4) Philadelphia Eagles

The Seahawks were so close to winning the NFC West, but came up just short to upsetting the 49ers on Sunday Night Football in the regular season finale.  Now, the 11-5 Seahawks go on the road to visit the 9-7 Philadelphia Eagles.  The NFC East was lackluster this year, but the Eagles overcame a litany of injuries to fend off their rival Dallas Cowboys and win the division title, thus earning a home playoff game.  The Seahawks went an impressive 7-1 on the road this year and a 5-0 mark in games in the Eastern Time zone, including a 17-9 win in Philadelphia in November.  A win for the Seahawks would likely set up a Divisional Round showdown with their rival San Francisco, should the Saints beat the Vikings this weekend.

Betting line:  SEA -1.5
