Next Step For Oregon State: Las Vegas

By STEVEN VAUGHAN, 750 THE GAME

The Beavers took some huge steps last season that started with a big win over Boise State and ended with a trouncing of Florida in the Las Vegas Bowl.

Momentum in hand, what is their next step?

Pac-12 Network’s Yogi Roth, who will be on the call Saturday for Oregon State’s spring showcase, gave his answer to John Canzano on 750 The Game:

“I think it’s the Pac-12 Championship game,” Roth said. “And I don’t think that’s a dream when you look at their schedule and you look at how they built it. Like, they’re not perfect, they’ve got holes, they’ve got questions. But that’s their next step.

“And I think honestly, with where the schedule sits this year, they got every reason to believe that’s a real possibility.”

The Beavers will miss USC on their schedule this year, and finish November with a home game vs Washington and road showdown at Oregon.

“It should not surprise this team if they find themselves going into the U Dub game with everything in front of them,” Roth said. “Against two teams that will also be in contention to go to Las Vegas in Washington and Oregon in the final two games. I’m not going to budge off of that. That’s how they should be talked about. And I imagine the players will talk the same way.”

The Beavers are one of the most intriguing teams in one of the most intriguing conferences, and they won’t sneak up on anyone this year.
