NBA Officially Announces Dec. 22 Start Date

The speculation is finally official, the NBA’s 72-game season will begin on Dec. 22, the league announced.

As expected, the full game schedule will be released at a later date.

For the Portland Trail Blazers specifically, the team announced fans won’t be allowed to attend games at the Moda Center to start the season.

“With health and safety as our number one priority, we will continue to evaluate a timeline for fans to return to Moda Center, which has not been determined at this time,” the team said in a press release. “We will continue to take the lead from the state and are optimistic that conditions will improve as the season moves forward.”

Safety measures and improvements to the Moda Center have been made “in anticipation of having fans back in the arena”. However, the Blazers say more information will be provided once a timeline to get fans back is established.
