Minshew’s Magic Dries Up Across the Pond, Texans Handle Jaguars 26-3 in London
Despite being without All-Pro defensive lineman J.J. Watt and solid No. 2 receiver Will Fuller V, the Houston Texans took care of business in the second half to beat Jacksonville handily in London on Sunday.
The first half was a defensive battle from both sides, with a 9-3 halftime score in Houston’s favor. Jacksonville’s offense never found a rhythm, while Houston’s offense scored 17 points in the second half.
Gardner Minshew wasn’t terrible, but he certainly wasn’t the phenom the Jags have relied on in their four wins. The Jaguar offense in the second half had two drives ending in a turnover on downs and four in a row ending in either an interception or a fumble.
The rookie out of Washington State finished 27-of-47 with 309 yards, two interceptions and two lost fumbles. Texans QB Deshaun Watson wasn’t spectacular, but he was calculated against a decent Jags defense. Watson collected 201 yards on 22-of-28 passing with two touchdown passes.
In all honesty, the game was not fun and that seemed fitting for the final London game for the NFL in 2019.
