The season as a whole hasn’t been kind to the Mariners, or starter Marco Gonzales. However, on Sunday, the M’s ace pitched like one.

“Gonzo” was strong over seven innings, allowing just one run off three hits and two walks. Gonzales ended player’s weekend with a new career-high for wins in a season with 14.

The Mariners gave their starter a 1-0 lead early after Dylan Moore smacked a ball over the left field fence in the third inning.

Kyle Seager added to the total for Seattle with a fourth inning double that scored J.P. Crawford from first.

The only run scored was one of the slowest balls to score a run. Rowdy Tellez snuck the ball through the shift on the left side of the infield to cut the M’s lead to 2-1 in the sixth.

Gonzales recovered, and closed out the sixth and pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning.

In the home seventh, Austin Nola somehow managed to score an insurance run on a semi-shallow sacrifice fly ball from Omar Narváez.

Mariners win 3-1. Seattle wins series with Toronto 2-1. The M’s have now won four straight series.
