Mariners Blow 9th Inning Lead, Lose to the Yankees 5-4
Seattle had a 4-2 lead going into the 9th inning and it looked like they were going to come away with a big win. But the Yankees had other thoughts as they scored three runs in the bottom of the 9th to steal the game, 5-4. Gio Ursela tied the game up with a 2-run home run to deep center field, and then Dj LeMahieu had the game winning single to left field later in the inning.
It was a tough loss for the Mariners as they were in control the entire game. Edwin Encarnacion hit his third home run in his last four games and Jay Bruce broke out of his slump with a 3-4 day and an RBI. Starting pitcher Marco Gonzales had another solid outing as well for Seattle, going six full innings allowing only three hits and one earned run.
Seattle’s record drops to 19-19 on the season and up next they continue their four game series in the Bronx tomorrow at 3:30 pacific time.
