After the team announced they have drafted 14 players in the G League expansion draft, they announced that former Blazers Summer League player and former University of Portland star, Pooh Jeter, would be the assistant GM and player development coach.
The news drops that Jim Moran will be the team’s head coach.
Moran began his NBA coaching career with the Portland Trail Blazers in 2014-15, where he first served as the team’s associate video coordinator. Moran was promoted to an assistant coach in 2015 and served in the role through the 2020-21 season. The past two seasons, Moran was with the Detroit Pistons as an assistant coach. Moran has experience in the G League as he got his start as a player development coach in 2013 for the Maine Red Claws.
TRAIL BLAZERS G LEAGUE TEAM SELECTS 14 PLAYERS IN EXPANSION DRAFT
The full roster and the schedule are still not out yet. But the team is coming together and it will be a good option to see some very talented players play in the Northwest. The G League team can only help the Trail Blazers as they were one of the only teams in the league without their own G League team. The team will play their home games at the Chiles Center at the University of Portland.
