Jeremy Ebobisse Questionable with Concussion as Timbers visit rival Seattle Sounders

The Portland Timbers pay a visit to their rival Seattle Sounders on Thursday night, in a battle between the top two teams in the West. Forward Jeremy Ebobisse suffered a concussion during Sunday night’s match with LAFC and is questionable for their match with the Sounders.

Ebobisse is the team leader in goals this season (8) and has gained a lot of praise from coach Giovanni Savarese this week. Savarese was quoted saying:

“Jeremy this year is showing a lot more maturity, tremendous quality. If he plays on top or in the wing, he performs the same. I think he’s able to bring goals from the two sides and help the team in any way that we need it. He’s a very smart player with great qualities and I think the work that we have done with him and the communication and the training is showing right now that he’s on a good level to do great things.”

If Ebobisse is unable to suit up, the Timbers still have Diego Valeri and Felipe Mora available on the attack. Valeri and Mora have scored seven goals apiece this season, with Jaroslaw Niezgoda and Yimmi Chara as the other important pieces to the Timbers’ offensive success this season.

The Timbers (9-5-4) and Sounders (9-4-4) are currently tied at the top of the West standings with 31 points each, as the MLS regular season nears its final weeks. Portland holds a two-game win streak over Seattle. There most recent was a 1-0 victory on Sept. 23 at Providence Park. Thursday night’s match is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. against their Cascadia rival.
