Jarred Kelenic Heading To IL After Kicking Water Cooler, Breaking Foot
By 750 THE GAME STAFF
We have seen a lot of interesting baseball injuries over time.
The Seattle Mariners just experienced an injury that should have been very avoidable.
Outfielder Jarred Kelenic, who is having his best season of his young career, got frustrated during Wednesday’s night loss to the Minnesota Twins and kicked the water cooler following a strikeout in the ninth inning in the Mariners dugout. Results came back with a broken foot for the 24 year old.
Kelenic was placed on the 10 day injured list on Thursday and was seen in a walking boot. Kelenic was very emotional when talking to the media saying that he let his teammates down and he let his emotions get the best of him.
There is no current timetable for Kelenic to return, but manager, Scott Servais, said Kelenic will be out for an extended period of time.
Kelenic is hitting .252 with 11 home runs and 45 RBI’s in 90 games this season for the Mariners, who are fighting to make the playoffs for a second consecutive season. A big loss for the Mariners as we enter the home stretch of the regular season.
