PASADENA, CA – DECEMBER 26: An aerial view of the Rose Bowl Game logo and the Utah and Penn State end zones on the field of the 100-year-old Rose Bowl Stadium prior to the Rose Bowl Game on December 26, 2022 in Pasadena, California. The annual American college football bowl game pit the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Utah Utes to battle for the Leishman Trophy on the day of the Tournament of Roses Parade, also known as the Rose Parade. The events are traditionally held on New Year’s Day except when it falls on a Sunday, as it will this year, a long-standing rule to prevent frightening horses outside of churches along the parade route and disrupting services. This year, the Tournament of Roses events will occur on Monday, January 2. The Rose Bowl Stadium opened in October 1922. (Photo by David McNew/Getty Images)
With New Year’s Day falling on Sunday, the 109th playing of The Rose Bowl Game will go down a day later than tradition, as No. 8 Utah faces No. 11 Penn State on Monday, Jan. 2nd.
Josh Newman of The Salt Lake Tribune joined John Canzano on The Bald Faced Truth to preview the matchup between the Utes and Nittany Lions, the growing possibility of quarterback Cam Rising returning for another season, and how NIL factors into the equation.
