Madrigal was drafted before attending OSU in the 17th round of the 2015 MLB Draft by Cleveland, but obviously went to college instead.
The decision to to play at Oregon State certainly paid off. Madrigal would end up getting picked No. 4 overall in the 2018 MLB Draft.
He was an All-Pac-12 Conference Team, an All-Pac-12 Defensive Team selection and an All-American in all three seasons at Oregon State. Madrigal also earned Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, and he was the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year his sophomore season.
Nick Madrigal has joined the @whitesox, and we’re all going to love watching him. Exciting player who creates action all over the field. He struck out in only 3% of his minor league PA. “Insane hand-eye coordination,” @Rody1618 of @BeaverBaseball told me. @MLBNetwork @Cut4 @MLB
