Former Portland Trail Blazer and current Philadelphia 76ers assistant coach Monty Williams has agreed to be the next head coach for the Phoenix Suns replacing Igor Kokoskov, who was fired last week. Williams stint as an assistant coach in Portland lasted from 2005-2010 under then head coach Nate McMillan. He takes over a Suns team that hasn’t made the playoffs in 9 straight seasons. Coach Williams only other NBA head coaching experience was with the New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans from 2010-2015 where he had a 173-221 regular season record. Coach Williams will join Phoenix after the 76ers complete their run in the NBA playoffs.
