For Third Straight Week, Oregon Ducks Sit Atop College Football Playoff Rankings

750 The Game Staff

Earlier Tuesday, the Oregon Ducks learned they officially clinched a trip to Indianapolis for the Big Ten Championship Game on Dec. 7th. Later in the afternoon, Oregon repeated atop the College Football Playoff rankings for the third week in a row.

Oregon improved to 11-0 with their 16-13 victory at Wisconsin. Following their bye, the Ducks host rival Washington at Autzen Stadium on Nov. 30th in the regular season finale before playing for the Big Ten Championship the following week. Ohio State, Indiana, or Penn State could meet the Ducks in Indianapolis.

For the second straight week, four of the top-five ranked teams in the CFP are from the Big Ten with Ohio State (No. 2), Penn State (No. 4), and Indiana (No. 5) trailing the Ducks. Illinois, 7-3, joins the rankings this week at No. 25.

Notably, Boise State, 9-1 with their lone loss coming at Oregon in Week Two, is No. 12 in this week’s rankings. The Broncos move ahead of Big 12 leading BYU (No. 14). If that holds, Boise State would not only make the Playoff, but would earn a first-round bye among the top-four ranked conference champions.

Washington State, ranked No. 25 in the AP Poll, fell out of the CFP rankings following their loss at New Mexico. The 8-2 Cougars visit the 4-6 Oregon State Beavers on Saturday.

The full third-edition CFP rankings are below. Two more ranking reveals are on deck for Nov. 26th and Dec. 3rd before the final rankings after conference championship weekend on Sun. Dec. 8th.
