In the past two weeks, the Timbers have ended three separate undefeated home streaks. Previously it was NYCFC and LAFC, tonight it was over rival Sounders in Seattle. Brian Fernandez scored a brace, and the Timbers defense held firm as they took away a 2-1 win from Century Link Field.

Fernandez has to be in Sounders players nightmares as the Argentine striker now has four goals against Seattle in just two matches. Fernandez has now scored eleven goals across all competitions since joining the Timbers in May.

Tensions flared between the two rivals late in the game. As the final whistle blew, a shoving match between the two sides broke out at midfield. Nothing more escalated out of the shoving match, it just added more fuel to this already heated rivalry.

With the win tonight, the Timbers now sit just two points below the red line with 28 total points. Portland still has a couple games in hand compared to rest of the Western Conference and they finish the season with 11 of 12 matches at Providence Park.
