Seattle’s surprise beginning of the season continues, as they beat the Los Angeles Angels 6-3, to improve their record to 6-1 on the year. Felix Hernandez got his first start of the season and he was great. In 5 1/3 innings pitched, Hernandez, allowed 7 hits and only 1 earned run. If that’s the Felix that will be here all season then Mariner fans will be thrilled. The bats continued to be hot as well as the Marines had 10 hits, including another home run. Up next, Seattle finishes up the short series against Los Angeles tomorrow night at 7.

 

Game highlights:

The Mariners bats stayed hot early, as they were able to score four runs in the 1st inning. Domingo Santana drove in an RBI off a single. It was his 11th RBI on the season so far.

Omar Narvaez got in on the action with an RBI single to right field.

Tim Beckham stayed hot with an 2 RBI double to center field to give the Mariners an early 4-0 lead.

The Angles responded in the top half of the 2nd inning with an unearned run. Brian Goodwin beat out an infield grounder to score Albert Pujols from 3rd base.

Los Angeles continued to chip away at the lead in top half of the 4th. Jonnathan Lucroy hit an RBI single, and right after him shortstop David Fletcher also hit a RBI single to trim the Mariners lead to 4-3.

In the bottom of the 7th inning, Jay Bruce, hit a 2-run HR to extend the Mariners lead to 6-3. It was his 3rd HR in as many days.

Final call. Seattle wins 6-3.
