Derrick Rose Headed Back to Knicks in Trade Between Detroit, New York

Derrick Rose is headed back to New York and reconnects with his two-time former coach Tom Thibodeau.

The Detroit Pistons sent the former NBA MVP to the Knicks for Dennis Smith Jr. and a second round pick.

Rose played five seasons (2010-15) with Thibodeau in Chicago. Then, he played for Thibs again in Minnesota for a season-plus (2017-2019).

Smith has been out of the Knicks rotation lately, so the Knicks didn’t give up much to reunite Rose and Thibodeau.

In 15 games this season, Rose averages 14.2 points, 4.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.9 rebounds per game off the bench.

Smith only has three games this season.
