Defending CFP Champs, No. 1 Clemson Thumps Georgia Tech 52-14
Travis Etienne was on another level Thursday night against Georgia Tech. Clemson’s running back powered the top-ranked Tigers to an easy 52-14 win over the Yellow Jackets.
Etienne finished with 205 rushing yards on just 12 carries and three rushing touchdowns.
In 2018, Trevor Lawrence announced his presence in several ways throughout the season. To start 2019, Lawrence was sloppy with two interceptions against a sub-par GT defense.
Lawrence finished 13/23, 168 yards, one touchdown, and the two INTs. The true sophomore threw four picks all last year.
Clemson continued the longest win streak in college football with the victory on Thursday. The Tigers have now won 16 in a row.
If you’re interested in betting, Clemson had an interesting way to beat the spread. The Tigers decided to kick a 51-yard field goal with 6:11 to go in the game.
They were leading by 35, 49-14, and the spread was -36, according to ESPN. Clemson’s kicker, B.T. Potter, nailed the kick, which marked the first made field goal of 50+ yards for Clemson since 2013. Ouch.
