Damian Lillard Still Has Plenty Of Good Years Left

The Trail Blazers and their fans want to win a championship with Damian Lillard as the best player. It may or may not happen. Judah Newby and Steven Vaughan were filling in for John Canzano on the Bald Faced Truth, and Steven questioned how much longer Dame can keep up this level of excellence on the court.

“I had questions coming in to the season of how good he was going to be coming off the injury,” Vaughan said. “Usually point guards at his age, 32-33, that’s when they start falling off a little bit. Dame showed no sign of it. And because of that, I think you can give him a year, two years of saying – alright, Dame can be playing at top-15, top-20 level in the NBA.”

Judah Newby has a lot of confidence that as long as Lillard can get to the basket – even if he’s lost a step – he’ll still be dominant player.

“As long as he gets to the rim, I think the ability to finish around the bucket in traffic, that sticks,” he said. “There’s nothing to suggest that he’s lost a step (this year).”

The Blazers seem like they have a narrow bridge to cross when putting together a championship contender. GM Joe Cronin has a tough job. But he’s got to do it for Dame.
