Damian Lillard Officially Requests Trade From Portland Trail Blazers, Reports

By 750 The Game STAFF

It is official. Damian Lillard wants out of Portland.

The Trail Blazers all-time leading scorer has told the team he wants to be traded, preferably to the Eastern Conference.

Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes had the first report, with The Athletic’s Shams Charania and ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne reporting the same within minutes.

The Miami Heat, Brooklyn Nets, and Philadelphia 76ers are all considered in play to land Lillard, per the reports, while Wojnarowski also included the LA Clippers as a Lillard suitor.

Charania says Miami is Lillard’s top choice with Brooklyn also a leading suitor.

Haynes says Miami and Brooklyn are preferred destinations.

Wojnarowski said Miami, Brooklyn, and the Clippers are three teams that will have interest in exploring trades for Lillard, and the Blazers are expected to value deals that would bring them young players and draft assets.

Arguably the greatest player in franchise history, it appears Lillard’s run in Portland is coming to an end after eleven seasons, seven All-Star teams, seven All-NBA nods, the most points in franchise history, an appearance in the Western Conference Finals, and a spot on the NBA’s 75 Greatest Players ever list.

More to come on this story as it develops.
