Covid-19 Driving Change to Pac-12 Schedule?

During media availability today, USC coach Clay Helton raised eyebrows when he suggested that the Pac-12 could make drastic adjustments to their schedule this season:

USC coach Clay Helton said an 11-game conference-only schedule has been discussed in Pac-12 meetings. "That’s been one of the many structures of our discussion depending on where we are 6-8 weeks from now."

While this is apparently only one possibility that has been discussed, it would be a drastic change from the norm. It would have certain advantages – namely the obvious desired result that teams are able to have a complete in-conference schedule with minimal travel. It would result in several high-profile games being removed from the schedule, however – namely Ohio State at Oregon on September 12, USC at Alabama on September 5, and Michigan at Washington on September 5.
