Colts hire Shane Steichen as head coach

The Indianapolis Colts have announced the hire of Shane Steichen as their new head coach, putting the former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator in charge of a team looking to bounce back from a 4-12-1 season.

The Colts will officially introduce Steichen during a news conference Tuesday afternoon with owner Jim Irsay and general manager Chris Ballard.

Although the Eagles’ fell short in their 38-35 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII, Steichen received accolades for the team’s offensive resurgence the past two seasons – particularly for the way he was able to help quarterback Jalen Hurts transform from a fringe starter to an MVP candidate.

The Colts hold the fourth overall pick in the NFL Draft and are widely expected to select a quarterback.
