College Basketball Invitational Canceled Due to Coronavirus Concerns

The NCAA Tournament and National Invitation Tournament (NIT) are expected to go on, but the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) will not happen in 2020.

The CBI announced the decision to cancel the tournament Wednesday morning on Twitter. Referencing “uncertainty about the coronavirus” as a key component in canceling the tournament.

Teams like the Pac-12’s Washington State, who received an invite to the CBI last month, may not get a postseason experience now.

The CBI’s announcement comes just days after the Ivy League canceled their Men’s and Women’s basketball conference tournaments. Also, the Pac-12 and NBA implemented new locker room rules because of the coronavirus situation.
