Our own John Canzano wrote about Game 7 of the Western Conference semi-finals.

The Portland Trail Blazers reach their first Western Conference Finals since 2000. They trailed early, and as Canzano asked: Didn’t that just play right into the storyline of this storybook season?

Canzano writes:

Evan Turner put on the cape. Meyers Leonard checked in, and draped himself on Nikola Jokic. Zach Collins played with five fouls while appearing not to know what getting a sixth would mean. And CJ McCollum… man… what do you say except, nobody in their right mind wants to trade you now, pal.

McCollum gave an emotional post-game interview to a national television audience. And why not? The first Lehigh player ever drafted by an NBA team had just scored 37 points. That performance came in the most important game in Blazers history since maybe 2000.

CJ McCollum did it all for Portland on 17-of-29 (58.6%) shooting. The Western Conference Finals start Tuesday night in Oracle Arena as the Blazers visit Golden State.
