Browns Cruise 23-3 Against Jets, Who Lose Second QB in First Two Weeks
The Cleveland Browns were the most hyped team during the NFL offseason. The New York Jets were playing their backup QB because their starter has mono. You can probably guess how Monday Night Football went in the Meadowlands.
Cleveland struggled to put the ball in the end zone, but a pair of field goals gave them a 6-0 first quarter lead. They finally punched it in for a TD when Nick Chubb scored from 19 yards out.
The Jets had a terrible time getting going on offense. Trevor Siemian started in place of Sam Darnold (mononucleosis), but Siemian was injured in the second quarter.
In came former Washington State QB Luke Falk, but he couldn’t get the Jets to do anything offensively either.
The highlight of the night was Odell Beckham Jr. on two occasions. Beckham caught a pass one-handed on the edge of the sideline, and he burst through for an 89-yard touchdown catch and run.
The Browns improve to 1-1 while the Jets fall to 0-2, with both losses coming at home.
Here are the highlights from Monday Night Football:
2nd Quarter
Nick Chubb 19-yard TD Run, 13-0 Browns
3rd Quarter
Baker Mayfield to Odell Beckham Jr., 89-yard TD 23-3 Browns
Final Call: Browns win 23-3
