Brian Fernandez Sets MLS Record, Timbers Beat FC Dallas 1-0
Brian Fernandez just keeps on scoring. Fernandez scored the game-winning goal against Dallas in the 42nd minute Sunday, finally breaking the deadlock. Fernandez became the first player in history to score in five consecutive regular season games to open an MLS career Sunday night.
With the win, the Timbers move out of last place in the MLS Western Conference, they now have a total of 20 points.
Portland is trying to make up ground in the standings after beginning the season with 12 straight games on the road due to construction at Providence Park. The Timbers still sit four points below the red line with nearly half the season behind them, but the club will play a home-heavy schedule the rest of the way. The Timbers will play two of their next three MLS regular season games at home and another 14 MLS games at Providence Park before the end of the season.
The next match will be next Sunday against New York City FC in Yankee Stadium. You can listen to that match right here on 102.9 and 750 The Game.
