Best Bets For College Football Week 4

By STEVEN VAUGHAN, 750 THE GAME

It can’t get any worse. After another 1-4 week I am terrible on my best bets this season with a 4-11 record. There is still plenty of time for me to turn it around or you can fade my bets and be rich. The choice is yours. Here are my top five bets for week four of college football.

USC -4.5 @ Michigan

USC has been great and Michigan has been bad. That is the easy handicap. This line seems way to easy which honestly scares me a ton. But if you have watched these two teams play the line should be higher. Wink Martindale, the defensive coordinator for Michigan, is going to blitz. He always has and always will. That plays right into USC’s hands. Quarterback Miller Moss gets the ball out quickly and hasn’t thrown an interception all season long. I expect USC to be able to shut the Michigan offense down. Alex Orji is the new quarterback for Michigan. He is not a thrower. USC will load the box up and new defensive coordinator D’Anton Lynn will prove why he’s one of the best. USC big.

Utah @ Oklahoma State -2

I can’t trust Utah to tell the truth. I have no idea if Cam Rising is playing, but this line has moved like Rising isn’t playing. Utah was a 2.5 point favorite and now Oklahoma State is a slight favorite. If Rising doesn’t play, Oklahoma State has a huge advantage. If Rising does play I still question if he’s 100%. I have to go with the home team against the new team in the conference.

Michigan State +7 @ Boston College

Jonathan Smith is a wizard of a coach. This Michigan State team isn’t super talented yet they are 3-0 and playing really well. Aidan Chiles is the real deal. When he’s on fire he’s one of the best in the nation. I do like what Bill O’Brien has done with BC. They are a tough sound team, but they want to run the football and play defense. I am going to lean on the Smith and Chiles to keep this game close.

Miami (FL) @ South Florida +17

Miami is one of the best teams in the nation. There is no doubt about it and they will be favored in every game this season until they make the CFP. South Florida is an up-and-coming team with many good athletes. They played with Alabama on the road for 3+ quarters. I think they can do the same to Miami, but this time at home. It’s the type of game with South Florida players who want to prove they should be the ones playing at Miami. It’s a hold your nose and hope they keep it close type of game, but I think USF keeps this game within two touchdowns.

UCLA @ LSU -21.5

This is a lot of points, but UCLA has been so disappointing this season. They may be the worst power four football team. LSU is at home and looking to build off of last week’s win over South Carolina on the road. I hate laying so many points, but I don’t want to be sitting there on Saturday watching LSU be up by 30+ points at the end of the game and wondering why I didn’t bet on LSU. It has a very high likely chance to happen in my mind. The spreads haven’t caught up to how bad UCLA actually is.
