Astros Sweep Series against M’s, Beat Seattle for 9th time in 2019

The Mariners were just no match for the Houston Astros on Sunday.

Gerrit Cole was masterful through seven innings with 10 strikeouts. Cole only allowed a 1st inning J.P. Crawford home run throughout the day.

Marco Gonzales struggled early, but the Seattle starter held Houston to a 3-1 lead through five innings.

The problem for Seattle was the offense never got going, and to top it off the bullpen gave up three runs in the 8th inning.

The Astros sweep the Mariners in the 3-game series with two walk-off wins on Friday and Saturday before Sunday’s 6-1 win.

Losing Pitcher, (9-7) Marco Gonzales: 5.0 IP, 3 ER, 5 K, 3 BB

The Mariners now head home for the final six games before the All-Star Break. However, Seattle’s interleague series with St. Louis doesn’t start until Tuesday.
