Astros Clobber Mariners 10-2 Behind Six Home Runs
The Houston Astros embarrassed the Seattle Mariners on Friday night at Minute Maid Park. Houston’s 10-2 win is the largest win for the Astros over the M’s this year.
Despite the 10-1 record Houston holds against Seattle this year, six of the games finished with two or fewer runs separating the two clubs.
Unfortunately for the M’s, Friday was not one of those close games. Seattle starter Yusei Kikuchi gave up six earned runs off four homers.
The lone offensive highlight for the Mariners was Daniel Vogelbach’s 26th home run of the season. At that point, the game was all but over with the M’s trailing 9-2 after the homer.
The best, or at least most noteworthy, moments of the night for the M’s were the MLB Debuts of Seattle relievers Reggie McClain and Zac Grotz.
McClain picked up his first (below) and second strikeouts.
Grotz ended his first of two innings pitched with a ground ball double play.
Winning Pitcher, (10-4) Wade Miley: 6.0 IP, 2 ER, 6 K, 5 BB
