Miami Marlins CEO and former New York Yankee great, Derek Jeter, was in Corvallis today to watch the Beavers take on the USC Trojans. He was there presumably to scout All-American catcher and No. 1 MLB draft prospect, Adley Rutschman. Rutschman was last year’s College World Series Most Outstanding Player, and is hitting .426 this year with 17 HRs and 57 RBIs to lead his Beavers to a 36-18-1 record and likely national seed for the NCAA tournament.

Derek Jeter has received some criticism for his time as CEO of the Marlins. But landing Rutschman would surely quiet some of his biggest critics as he is one of the most hyped prospects to come along in awhile. The authoritative publication Baseball America calls him the best draft prospect since Bryce Harper.
