Portland Winterhawks defenseman Derrick Pouliot was selected eighth overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round of the 2012 National Hockey League Entry Draft Friday.

USA Hockey announced that Winterhawks defenseman Seth Jones has been invited to the National Junior Evaluation Camp from August 4-11 in Lake Placid, N.Y. The players invited to the camp will be auditioning for a spot on the U.S. National Junior Team that will take part in the 2013 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship, Dec. 26, 2012-Jan. 5, 2013, in Ufa, Russia.

Last season’s Winterhawk team may have played together for the last time after losing in the WHL Finals.
