Futty Danso suffers injury

The Portland Timbers are on the verge of opening the 2012 season and will be without a key member of their team.  Futty Danso has suffered a fracture in his left foot and the team says he will be out four to six weeks. Here is the official release from the Timbers.

TIMBERS DEFENDER FUTTY DANSO TO MISS 4-6 WEEKS WITH FOOT FRACTURE

PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Timbers today announced that defender Futty Danso sustained a fractured fifth metatarsal in his left foot Tuesday during training.

Danso, 28, is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

A member of The Gambia National Team, Danso started in 23 of the 24 games he appeared in during the 2011 Timbers season. He scored three goals and maintained an MLS-best season-opening streak of 604 minutes without committing a foul.
