What?! Was it ever a doubt that Chip Kelly would leave? Well, yeah. It was all but a signed deal, the ink hadn't dried.

Around 5pm Sunday night, reports loomed that Chip Kelly had agreed in principle to become the next head coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Reports and rumors followed:

Michael Berk of KGW initially reported a single source confirms that Chip Kelly indeed has come to terms to become Tampa's coach.

Timeline begins at 5pm ends at 1am

Been hearing all day about the Chip Kelly-to-Tampa Bay rumors. At this point, just rumors.

Have feelers out about TB job+report of Chip Kelly. Tony Dungy hadn't heard, said he was very surprised, has not spoken to Kelly.

Just spoke w/ a key donor tied 2 University of Oregon. Person tells me he has not heard that Chip Kelly is leaving Oregon. He'd likely know.

U of O official says if Chip Kelly is talking to Tampa Bay, "that's news to me." Nothing official from school.

Everything happens for a reason so I believe the will still fly high!

Don't ask cuz I don't kno

To know and not to do is not to know ... So don't ask me what I think he's going to do cause I don't know lol so u tell me what u think? "he's" by far the best/smartest coach I have ever been around I can't think of 1 person that's a close 2nd

At 6:45pm Sunday night, MSP Producer Peter Socotch spoke with an Oregon coach off the record who confirmed with Peter that Chip is gone. Said a meeting and notification took place informing of departure.

Source: Chris Petersen is not the first guy on Oregon's list. They might go after him, but it's not dead solid certainty. Oregon believes it can go after any coach it wants. Money. Facilities. Recent winning. Nike. Not necessarily in that order.

Also hearing that Helfrich is really a legit candidate, very popular amongst the current staff. Many people suggesting Greatwood would follow Chip, which is still a possibility, though I'm hearing Greatwood may be reluctant to leave.

Around 9pm ESPN runs a ticker story and a 30 second bit on SportsCenter regarding the departure of Oregon's Chip Kelly to Tampa.

Rumors circulated that Phil Knight's jet was in flight to Boise to court Chris Petersen to Oregon.

John Canzano releases story titled "Kelly got it right; no one is bigger than program": I expect that when someone finally surfaces with official confirmation, it's going to be with an announcement that Kelly is NFL-bound, and the Ducks are without a head coach. So what? That's right. I'm not worried. You shouldn't be worried. Because I believe Oregon, not Kelly, is the bonafide key to success in Eugene. (FULL STORY)

Yes and yes RT Sources confirming the reversal are the same ones who stated he was leaving earlier, correct? They sound convinced?

Never had a night like this in my seven-plus years at The R-G. One thing about Chip: He always keeps you on your toes. The best part of night? I got to say "Stop the presses!" in the newsroom (and mean it) for the first time.

CBS Sports Bryan Fischer releases article discussing Chip's flip-flop (FULL STORY)

No joke. I like it better when recruits change their mind at the last minute. So much easier to deal with than a head coach... RT : One thing about Chip: He always keeps you on your toes.
