The biggest surprise in the first round of yesterday's NFL Draft may have been the Seattle Seahawks selecting West Virginia's Bruce Irvin with the 15th pick overall. Irvin was seen as a second or third-round guy by scouts, but Pete Carroll fell in love with his speed and athleticism and took the pass-rushing specialist in the first-half of the first round.
Irvin had 23 sacks in only two seasons at West Virginia, but some off-field incidents scared away some teams. Scouts also questioned whether he was an every-down player or just a third-down pass-rush specialist.
While it's debatable whether Irvin is a Top-15 football player, it's not up for debate that he's a Top-15 interview. Irvin provided many quotable lines in his press conference with the media yesterday.
