By now we’ve all seen the infamous call in which the replacement refs stole a win from the Green Bay Packers and awarded it to Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks.  Matt Bowen, who played six seasons in the NFL, joined Chad in the afternoon to weigh in on the controversial call and its effect on the rest of the season.

Bowen insists that the Seahawks are good team.  With Russell Wilson at quarterback and a menacing defense, Seattle looks as tough and talented as it has looked since it went to the Super Bowl in 2005.  But the team did not win the game Monday night.  It might show up as a “W” in the win/loss column, but there is no way anyone outside of Seattle considers that game a victory.

Bowen also asserts that the NFC is as strong, top-to-bottom, as it has been in the past decade and he thinks there’s a serious possibility that Green Bay misses the playoffs this season – not just because of what happened Monday night, but also because he doesn’t know how Green Bay is supposed to prepare themselves to play their next game this weekend.  That next game also happens to be versus an 0-3 Saints team that is led by Drew Brees and desperate for a win.

Lastly, Bowen went into detail about what he is seeing take place between the refs and the players during the game.  Scrums and scuffles are taking place on virtually every play, coaches are running out to midfield and slapping refs with brute force, and guys in the secondary are riding the backs of receivers like bullriders at a rodeo.  And the refs refuse to throw flags because they are intimidated by the players, the coaches and the league.
