Bryan Bennett/GoDucks
With the recent news that redshirt freshman Marcus Mariota had beaten out sophomore Bryan Bennett for the Ducks’ starting quarterback position, people have been impatiently waiting to find out what Bennett was planning to do in regards to his future.  Adam Jude, who just recently joined the staff at the Oregonian joined the MSP Wednesday to talk about the latest news regarding Bennett.

Jude maintains that as far as he knows, Bennett will be staying with the program.  He believes the young QB was planning to do so all along; he just wanted to talk to his coach, explore his options and decide the best course of action.  After meeting with the coaches Tuesday, it sounds like they have convinced him to remain a part of the program, at least for the time being.

This is great news for Oregon, because if Bennett were to leave, the Ducks have no experience behind Mariota.

“You look at the depth behind the two quarterbacks in Mariota and Bennett – It’s two true freshmen in Jake Rodrigues and Jeff Lockie, - both guys who  come in with a lot of stars and a lot of potential, but it’s still just potential at this point.”

Speaking of newcomers, Jude also mentioned some true freshman that he feels are talented enough to play this season.  Keep an eye out for young running back Byron Marshall and young D linemen, Arik Armstead and DeForest Buckner.

Take a listen as Jude breaks down the depth chart of most of the different skill positions, and be sure to tune into 750thegame Saturday as the Oregon Ducks take on the Arkansas State Red Wolves.
