With no tune-up game versus Nicholls State last weekend, the Oregon State Beavers have had an extra two days to prepare for one of the best rushing attacks in all of college football. Angie Machado from Beavers Blitz joined the MSP Wednesday to discuss the Beavers’ game plan as they prepare for the Wisconsin Badgers.
Machado admits she would have rather the Beavers got a nice warm-up game versus Nicholls State, but she insists the attitude around the team seems to be a little more positive that it has been in previous years. This is the first time in a long time that the Beavers have come out of camp virtually unscathed, so the outlook amongst the program appears to be one of optimism. In addition, the Beavers are getting an extra half week to prepare for a team that did not look too impressive in its opener against Northern Iowa. An energized, healthy team coming off a tough previous season could be the perfect formula to upset a bunch of big boys from the Midwest.
Machado also says it would not surprise her to see Mike Riley pull out a couple of tricks against the Badgers. He’s under pressure to perform and get the team back to respectability. The safe, conservative approach hasn’t worked well for him in recent years. So switching it up with a little trickeration might be a necessary maneuver. And now that he’s the one calling the plays on offense the accountability falls squarely upon his shoulders.
Take a listen as Chad and Angie both pick the underdog in this matchup and be sure to watch and see what happens in Corvallis this weekend.
